I worked fulltime for nine years as a Communications Consultant at the Ghent Police Department of External relations, building insight and proficiency communicating with press and media outlets; managing internal and external stakeholders; writing press releases, briefs and speeches; informing the general public through online and offline channels; and organizing and conducting press conferences and public events.
Advisor & Customer Coordinator (2018-present)
Since my promotion in 2018, I am the Customer Coordinator supporting the Chief of Staff in citizen-related conflicts. I handle all administrative complaints from citizens against police officers or police procedures in accordance with the Belgian circular CP3. I advise the chief of police regarding media-sensitive topics and incidents, anticipating the effect and impact of certain decisions on public opinion and on internal satisfaction within our police force.
